Aiming at encouraging the future engineers in the market,  and in addition to providing opportunities to practice their knowledge in the area, even before their graduation, NSK sponsors and supports the Mini Baja projects in many Brazilian colleges and universities.
Mini-baja is an off-road, single seat vehicle,  constructed in tubular steel structure, designed and assembled by Engineering students. The undergraduates are responsible for all the systems, from the engine (10 HP), brakes, transmission to the chassis.
After constructing the prototype, there is an annual competition, in the city of Piracicaba, State of São Paulo, in which the cars are subjected to extreme situations, during 4 hours: on track, common obstacles in the professional races, such as ramps, mud and “"ribs"” (a sequence of small elevations).
During the race, features, like safety, stability and robustness, are evaluated. The performance of the team, which must provide a project report, is also analyzed, counting points for the final victory.
The Mini Baja project started in 1976, in the United States, as an intiative of SAE International (Society of Automotive Engineers –), and was implemented in the country by SAE Brasil in 1995, and  since then, became one of the largest complemenatry formation labs in automotive engineering.
Today, more than 40 education institutions receive support or sponsorship from NSK, via investments (funds)  or equipment donation (especially, bearings) for the vehicle construction, T-shirts, caps, among others. Get to know the colleges and universities supported by NSK.
In addition to Mini Baja, NSK also sponsored and supported many other sports events, such as cars races, Masseratti, Big Foot (Monster Truck) and Jungle Team, the latter bringing together several sports in a single competition (trekking, mountain bike, canoeing, rope-descending (rapel) and navigation with compass and geographical charts), investing 10% of its marketing budget in sports.
