The bearings are generally used under severe conditions, such as high load, high temperature and contaminated lubrication. In order to meet this type of demand, NSK has been developing numerous researches and achieving significant advancements in the material and thermal treatment fields, as evidenced in the HTF and STF bearings.
Today, with the growing use of bearings in corrosive environments, there is also a rising interest in stainless steel and ceramic bearings.
Stainless steel for bearings should present high purity. For that reason, the AISI martensitic steel was widely used in the industry, however, its corrosion resistance and performance were not considered adequate. To remediate this situation, NSK developed the stainless steel for bearings (ES1), superior to AISI 440C steel in terms of corrosion resistance, in addition to other important features.
