The new stainless steel for bearings (ES1) exceeds the conventional ones currently used in the market. Nitrogen was added to its alloy, in order to ensure corrosion resistance and fatigue long life on the rolling race, without increasing the production cost. In various tests, ES1 presented efficiency superior to that of the most common stainless steel in the market, such as the AISI 440C.
Specifically, ES1 demonstrated its superiority in watery environments at 5% of sodium chloride, tests with saline solution spray, sulphuric and hydrochloric acid solutions in immersion tests, as well as life tests in environments submerged in water, presenting useful life up to five times longer than that of conventional steels.
