In this kind of equipment, the central ring (intermediate ring) is installed on the shaft. The simple collar ball axial bearings support the axial load in one direction only, while the double collar bearings support it in both directions. In order to minimize the influence of deviation in installation, there are also axial ball bearings with ball backplate on the outer ring.
Steel pressed cages are used especially on small bearings and steel machined cages are used for the large ones.
